The report pointed out that if the deadline is not met, EU regulators can impose fines on Bing of up to 1% of its total annual income and regular fines of up to 5% of its average daily income. The agency will also impose fines if the company provides false or misleading information.

The European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA) regulates the online intermediaries and platforms used by millions of Europeans every day. DSA protects consumers and their online rights and aims to prevent illegal and harmful online activities and the spread of false information. Very large online platforms (or VLOP), which have more than 45 million users in the EU, fall within the scope of DSA's supervision.

The report added that generative artificial intelligence is one of the electoral risks detected by regulators, mainly targeting the upcoming European Parliament elections in June.
